On October 5, 2024, the Union of Islamic Schools - Japan (UIS-Japan) successfully organized a Leadership Challenge workshop, hosted by the International Islamia School Otsuka (IISO). This event brought together 25 leaders and teachers from five Islamic schools across Japan. The workshop was facilitated by the Council of Islamic Schools Based in North America (CISNA) and sponsored by the Islamic Development Bank (ISDB).

The workshop was expertly led by William White, a certified master facilitator of the Leadership Challenge and LPI coach and Presendint of CISNA.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in a series of interactive sessions designed to enhance their leadership skills. Key areas of focus included:

  • Modeling the Way: Leaders learned the importance of setting an example through their actions and behaviors.

  • Inspiring a Shared Vision: Techniques for creating and communicating a compelling vision were discussed.

  • Challenging the Process: Participants explored ways to innovate and improve their schools’ processes.

  • Enabling Others to Act: Strategies for empowering team members and fostering collaboration were shared.

  • Encouraging the Heart: The workshop emphasized the significance of recognizing and celebrating contributions.

The event was a resounding success, providing valuable insights and practical tools for the leaders to implement in their respective schools. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this workshop on the Islamic educational community in Japan.
