Golden Week 2026 brought more than just holidays for our senior high school students—it offered an unforgettable learning experience. On May 5, 2026, our class traveled from the IISO Otsuka Campus to Soka University in Hachioji, joining the university’s Open Campus program. What awaited us was a warm welcome, a vibrant academic atmosphere, and a powerful glimpse into university life in Japan.
A Warm Welcome to Soka University
Upon arrival, IISO students were greeted by Soka University staff and student volunteers, whose kindness and hospitality immediately set a positive tone for the day. Their support helped our students feel comfortable navigating a new environment and encouraged them to engage actively throughout the program.
Experiencing a Real University Lecture Hall
One of the highlights of the visit was stepping into a full-sized university lecture hall and attending an undergraduate‑level session. The bright, spacious room and the professor’s engaging teaching style gave students a genuine sense of what higher education feels like. For many, it was the first time imagining themselves as university students—and the experience sparked excitement, curiosity, and motivation.

Special Guidance from the FILA Faculty
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Faculty of International Liberal Arts (FILA), especially Dr. Sugimoto, Dr. Koli, and the dedicated team from the International Office. They prepared a special information session exclusively for our students, offering:
Clear explanations of academic pathways
Honest insights into university expectations
Encouraging messages about future possibilities
Their thoughtful guidance helped students reflect deeply on their goals and understand the steps needed to pursue higher education in Japan.
Exploring Campus Life and the International Lounge
During the campus tour, students explored key facilities and enjoyed the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere of Soka University. A meaningful moment for our group was visiting the Muslim prayer space inside the International Lounge, where students were able to pray comfortably. This gesture of inclusivity left a strong impression and highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting diverse student communities.
A Visit That Inspired New Dreams
Being in a new environment—surrounded by university students, modern facilities, and supportive faculty—helped our students imagine their own futures more clearly. Many shared that the experience boosted their confidence and encouraged them to set higher goals for themselves.
The Open Campus visit was not only informative but truly inspiring. We are deeply grateful to Soka University for their warm hospitality, thoughtful preparation, and meaningful conversations that made this day unforgettable.
