On July 19th, an IISO representative participated in a full‑day training program at one of Japan’s leading Aviation Universities. The visit to Aviation University offered a rare inside look into aviation education in Tokyo—combining hands‑on technical training, student interactions, and exposure to real industry‑level facilities.
Exploring Drone Technology in the Total Mobility Engineering Department
The day began in the Total Mobility Engineering Department, where participants learned about drone design, development, and modern applications in Japan’s growing aviation and mobility sectors.
A distinguished professor—known as the first-ever national drone competition champion—delivered an engaging lecture on drone engineering.
Participants then experienced:
A drone flight simulation using a controller and computer
Hands-on drone operation with real equipment
This session highlighted how Japan integrates advanced drone technology into university-level engineering programs.
Up Close with a Cessna Engine: Aircraft Maintenance Department
The next stop was the Aircraft Maintenance Department, where visitors had the rare opportunity to work directly with a Cessna aircraft engine.
They:
Removed the engine covers piece by piece
Examined the internal structure
Reassembled the components carefully
This hands‑on experience emphasized the critical role of maintenance engineering in ensuring aviation safety—an essential part of Japan’s aviation training standards.
Lunch With Aviation Students: Courtesy and Professionalism in Action
Lunch was held in the university cafeteria, accompanied by aviation students who guided the group throughout the day. Their politeness, attentiveness, and professionalism left a strong impression.
Students shared their thoughts about university life:
“Classes are fun.”
“Studying here gives me a sense of purpose.”
“I feel myself getting closer to my dream every day.”
Their positivity reflected the strong culture of motivation and discipline within Japan’s aviation education system.
Cabin Attendant & Ground Staff Department: Realistic Service Training
In the afternoon, the group visited the Cabin Attendant and Ground Staff Department, where they experienced:
Passenger service training inside a mock aircraft cabin
Emergency evacuation drills used in real airline training
These activities showcased the high level of professionalism required in aviation service roles, from customer care to crisis response.
Reflections: A Day Filled With Purpose and Inspiration
Throughout the visit, the IISO representative was deeply moved by the students’ passion, courtesy, and strong sense of purpose. Their enthusiasm for learning—and their commitment to their aviation dreams—was truly inspiring.
The university’s exceptionally high employment rate and strong connections with major companies became clear. These outcomes are driven by students who fully immerse themselves in their studies, not simply receive instruction.
The experience served as a powerful reminder:
Success comes from passion, dedication, and the willingness to dive deeply into what we love.
It was a meaningful and uplifting day—one that sparked a strong hope that IISO students will grow with the same motivation, discipline, and clarity of purpose.
