A Heartfelt Gift from Singapore: How a Three‑Day Infaq Lit a Spark of Hope in Tokyo

Strengthening IISO’s Library, Strengthening Our Ummah
When a community gives from the heart, the impact travels far beyond borders. Earlier this year, from 1–3 April 2026, a small but powerful initiative took place in Singapore—one that has now become a beautiful chapter in the story of Islamic education in Japan.
In just three days, the Singapore Muslim community came together and raised SGD 3,125 (≈ JPY 387,469) in a mini INFAQ campaign dedicated to supporting the establishment of the International Islamia School Otsuka (IISO) library. This Gift from Singapore was not only inspiring—it was transformative.
From this amount, SGD 1,574.43 was immediately used to purchase high‑quality educational books and learning resources in Singapore. These books are now part of the growing foundation of IISO’s future library, a space that will nurture curiosity, literacy, and Islamic identity for hundreds of children in Tokyo.
The remaining SGD 1,550.57 (≈ JPY 192,255) will be handed over to the school at the end of this term, ensuring that every dollar continues to support meaningful educational development.
A Gift That Crossed Oceans
This contribution is more than a donation—it is a reminder that our ummah is one body. What happens in Tokyo matters to Singapore. What uplifts children in Japan brings joy to families in Southeast Asia. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that sadaqah jariyah continues to benefit a believer long after they leave this world, and this infaq is exactly that: a seed planted for generations to come.
The books purchased will be read by children who are growing up far from their ancestral homelands yet deeply connected to their faith. They will learn, explore, and dream through resources made possible by brothers and sisters they have never met—but who cared enough to support their future.
Building IISO’s First Library
IISO is entering a new phase of growth—expanding facilities, strengthening academic programs, and building a library that reflects both Islamic values and global excellence. This infaq is one of the first community‑driven contributions toward that vision.
